Formation and Overview

Papanyana Holdings was established in May 1999 in a small village called Motlhlotlo located 25 km Northeast of the town of Mokopane formerly known as Potgietersrus, the same village was later relocated to Armoed by the mining giant, Anglo American Platinum to clear its way of extracting PGM’s. Our intention was to unleash the potentials of young men and women living in rural areas of which we are part. In all this time, Papanyana Holdings operated informally driven by the passion and love for Community Development, but later registered as a Papanyana Holdings (PTY) LTD.
Papanyana Holdings (pty) LTD is a 100% Black Owned with 20% youth and 20% women owned. Since its establishment in 1999, has played a pivotal role in facilitating the development of youth around Waterberg District and in replicating quality youth programmes. PH’s primary target group was, out of school, Unemployed young women and men, Disabled and the Overall youth. Our experience has taught us that this group were more disadvantaged as a result of their socio-economic and educational background. As a result, they are more vulnerable to engage in crime, drug abuse and sexual activities. They have little to no opportunities for economic development either through formal employment, further education and training or self-employment. The young women due to their gender and race were more disadvantaged. With due to high demand of developmental strategies and high unemployment rate in the Republic of South Africa which requires a lot of capital injections, PH realised the need to Diversify and create few subsidiaries to reach to our intended beneficiaries. Thus, Papanyana Development, Papanyana Minerals, Papanyana Infrastructure and Papanyana Equipment with a dedicated CSI drive Papanyana Foundation NPC As a commercial participant we come from the past that was characterized by skewed developmental priorities which were premised mainly on the color of skin or even the age of recipient, a developmental pattern that was structured in a manner that benefited a very small percentage of entire community. As a result of which, most of them became rebellious and defiant which resulted in them not getting the necessary education and skills to enable them to sustain their livelihood and therefore many of them resorted to what they considered as a means of survival such as involvement in Crime, Substance Abuse and Prostitution.
